Latina Financial Wellness Series

Empowering Latinas to Build Financial Confidence, Independence & Generational Wealth

In 2025, MANA de North Texas launched the Latina Financial Wellness Series, a free community education initiative designed to provide Latinas with practical, accessible financial knowledge and resources.

The program began with a pilot workshop in April focused on building a strong financial foundation through budgeting, saving, investing, and financial goal setting. Based on community interest and feedback, MANA de North Texas expanded the initiative into a Fall Financial Wellness Series addressing important stages of the financial journey.

From Pilot to Program

The initiative began on April 5, 2025, with a pilot workshop focused on building a strong financial foundation. Led by Gisel Lopez, Treasurer of MANA de North Texas and representing Amegy Bank, the workshop introduced participants to budgeting, saving, investing, and financial goal setting.

The pilot was intentionally designed to do more than provide information. MANA de North Texas wanted to gauge community interest, gather feedback, evaluate the effectiveness of the format, and determine whether there was a need for more in-depth financial education.

The experience helped shape an expanded Fall 2025 series that addressed increasingly complex stages of a woman's financial journey.

2025 Workshop Series

Debt Management | September 6

Participants explored strategies for reducing and managing debt, understanding interest rates and credit, and developing healthier financial habits. The workshop was facilitated by Mayra Jimenez of Frost.

Investing & Retirement Planning | September 13

Facilitated by Omar Aguilar of Blue Ladder Financial Planning, this workshop introduced participants to investing, retirement accounts, emergency savings, and strategies for building long-term wealth.

Homeownership | September 20

Participants learned about financial preparation for homeownership, mortgages and financing, the homebuying process, and important considerations when deciding whether they are ready to purchase a home.

Our Impact

Sphere on Spiral Stairs

Across the three Fall 2025 workshops, the Latina Financial Wellness Series recorded 24 workshop attendances.

Participant surveys demonstrated meaningful impact:

  • Debt-management confidence increased from an average of 3.1 to 4.1 out of 5.

  • 90% of Debt Management respondents gave the workshop's quality and usefulness the highest rating.

  • 86% of Investing & Retirement Planning respondents reported feeling very confident about taking action toward their financial goals.

  • 100% of post-workshop respondents across all three workshops said they would recommend the workshops to others.

Powered by Community Partnerships

The Latina Financial Wellness Series was made possible through collaboration with financial professionals and community partners, including Amegy Bank, Frost, Blue Ladder Financial Planning, and UTA Fort Worth.

Building Financial Confidence for the Future

Financial empowerment is an important part of empowering Latinas.

Through the Latina Financial Wellness Series, MANA de North Texas created a welcoming space where participants could ask questions, connect with trusted professionals, gain practical knowledge, and build confidence in making financial decisions for themselves and their families.

What began as a pilot workshop grew into a program addressing multiple stages of the financial journey—from managing debt to investing for the future and preparing for homeownership.

Knowledge builds confidence. Confidence creates opportunity. And opportunity can change generations.
